Heartbreaking For Malaysian Badminton Fans But There Is Still Chance For Bronze!
Olympics 2021 can be described as heartbreaking for Malaysian when the men's doubles were defeated in the semi finals to China with two set losing streak (24-22 and 21-13)
The men's double will be playing for bronze medal match on 31st July. The men's doubles were Malaysia's last hope to grab a medal in this Olympics for badminton as the other representatives were all eliminated.
Lee Zii Jia, the men's single lost to the defending champion, Chen Long and did not make it to the semifinals.
The previous Olympic Silver Medalist, Malaysian mixed doubles, Goh Liu Ying and Chan Peng Soon were also defeated during the group stage. These result upset the Malaysian as badminton is the strongest sport for Malaysia to grab a medal in the Olympics.
The cause for this result is most probably because of the pandemic and players did not get enough training as there is a lock down in Malaysia.
