What If Harry Kane Joins Manchester City? Happy Manchester City Fans?

Tottenham Hotspur face a challenge breaking into the top six next season if they lose Harry Kane to Manchester City, says former midfielder Jamie O'Hara.

City are hoping to sign a striker this summer following Sergio Aguero's departure and Kane would be an ideal signing, with the England captain reportedly making his wishes clear to chairman Daniel Levy that he wants to leave the club to try and win trophies before he retires.

The North London outfit are unwilling to sell and Men Sport understands thay have preivately agreed not to sell Harry Kane this summer, despite a gentleman's agreement made last summer between the two parties.

But O'Hara believes that letting Kane go would be a huge mistake if the money isn't reinvested in overhauling the current squad.

New manager Nuno Espirito Santo is unlikely to make a host of new signings due to the financial restrictions put in place due to the Covid-19 pandemic and O'Hara believes that could be detrimental in their hopes of securing Champions League football next season.

"There’s this whole thing about Harry Kane, will he stay or will he go Manchester City but my biggest concern is the players we’re still going to be left with. I’ve talked about this massive rebuild but I just can’t see it happening.

"Pre-season has already started, Spurs aren’t going to be spending a lot of money, the Harry Kane situation will rumble on so that money’s not going to be available for a while.

“I think Nuno will get decent results with this team but they won’t do anything special.

The rest of the team needs revamping. We need new midfielders, new wingers, we need a new back four and could probably do with a new goalkeeper because Hugo Lloris is getting older.”

Selling Kane could allow for the money to be reinvested in the squad, much like it was when the club sold Gareth Bale for a record £85m back in 2013. Whether they are willing to let arguably the best striker in the world go to a direct rival, however, is another matter entirely.
